Chris and Tim's Perspective: Tim, in keeping with his hiking form, has no idea what is going on. Chris is far too cheerful for his own good. Day 0: Tim forgot his rain coat. Chris forgot the food. Day 1: Tim wears his raincoat (borrowed from Taylor's dad) inside out for five hours of pouring rain. Chris thinks he sees a cougar. Chris and Aldous cook dinner in the pouring rain, Tim and Giovanni hide in tents. Day 2: The raincoat is dried out and given a second chance. Chris starts singing. Day 3: Tim discovers one of the laces on his boots is a string, has first suspicions about the evil nature of said footware. Everyone sings Stand By Me. Luckily we were well in the woods and no one else could hear. Day 4: Tim and Giovanni cook dinner in the pouring rain, Chris and Aldous hide in tents. A character building experience. Tim confirms suspicions about evil boots - one boot weighs considerably more than both of Aldous's boots. Day 5: Chris and Aldous sprint ahead, running large sections of trail. Tim took a short detour that ended in a 4km run with boots. Tim and Giovanni arrive at camp late, tired, grizzled, and smiling. Day 6: up. And up and up and up and down and down and down. And repeat. Day 7: hungry… cold…wet… safe and warm and home!! Food here we come!

Musical Memories: - “Well you're not hardcore…” “unless you live hardcore…”
- Stand by Me
- Aldous boiling water
- Aldous setting up the tarp
- Aldous boiling water
- Aldous setting up the tarp
- Aldous boiling water…
- Chris setting up tents
- Giovanni is magically ready
- Aldous says: Tim! Do something!
- Cliff rope systems. Unnecessary and hardcore!!

Chris: I love being so smack dab in the middle of nature, it's so overwhelming. It's also wonderfully humbling how quick the sky can send you scurrying for your tent… I'll always remember the beauty of the Juan de Fuca trail, and the great fun Aldous, Giovanni, Tim, and I had.

Famous Quotes from the week
Aldous: Pretty Sweet! Pretty Hardcore! This is intense! Well, I'm going to boil some water/set up the tarp.
Chris: It is leaking! (our tent)
Tim: I think my boots weigh ten pounds each.
Giovanni: hike-hitch, high-hike, Hitch-hike!…goodness….lovely.
