The project announced February 25 brought the media out on a grand scale. Within minutes of the unveiling of the Pearson College - EnCana - Clean Current Tidal Demonstration Project at Race Rocks, the news was travelling around the world.
The energy generated by a cleverly engineered underwater turbine will provide all the electricity for Race Rocks lighthouse island and its ecological reserve. The current deisel generators will be replaced by this cleaner energy source.
The innovative project will showcase technology that has applicability in many areas of the world.
