QUILT: MADE WITH LOVE

by Meghan Thom (year 32)

As you may know by now Sherry and Bryan are the much loved housefellows of McLaughlin House; something you probably didn't know, however, is that our wonderful librarian Barb, is an expert quilter and Sara (Spain)'s host mum.

Now combine these two facts and then consider the motivation, the love, the enthusiasm and the positive energy the McL girls exude and voila(!) you have a beautiful quilt which now hangs on the living room wall in Sherry and Bryan's house. Okay, so there was a little bit more hard work involved than that, especially on Sara and Barb's parts. Firstly they had to teach us all a thing or two about quilting so that we could all make our squares, then they had to take all of the squares and put them together into this gorgeous cat and flower themed quilt.

love,

Thanks to Sara Fernández (year 31), one of the main quilters, for the photos above.

Above, the McLaughlin girls pose with the quilt they made and gave to Sherry and Bryan (above right) as a gift at the Christmas party. Below left, Barbara Guiliany, expert quilter and assistant librarian, pauses for a moment with Sherry Crowther, librarian. Barb started teaching quilting just for fun last spring, as you can see by a glance back to an April Link, so three generations of McLaughlin students have been involved in the creation of this quilt.
