Pearson Community Members: Sustainability is a virtually all-encompassing topic that can accommodate a whole range of interests and skills. There are many different ways to become involved in the Oikos project; we encourage the Pearson Community to participate and provide feedback.
You can stay posted on upcoming Oikos events and opportunities by visiting this website, looking up the Oikos bulletin board located in the Pearson College Dining Hall, or simply contacting us. As the project evolves, we will also do our best to keep this process as transparent as possible. Consult the About the Oikos Project section to access meeting notes and minutes, baseline data and other relevant resources.
No/Low Cost Project Proposals The Oikos team has set aside some money from the grant to be used for no-low cost sustainable projects initiated by Pearson College students. If you have an interesting idea that will increase environmental, social, or economic health on campus, print and fill out the Project Proposal Form and submit it to the Oikos Team. The only stipulation is that the project must cost less than $200. The proposal sheet will go before the no/low cost student committee for approval. We welcome all ideas and look forward to your contributions!
Example
of a proposed project: Bryan Wattie, PC 33, wants to put a scale
underneath the garbage bins in the cafeteria with a read-out screen
that everyone can see. The goal of this project is to significantly
reduce the amount of garbage at Pearson by making people more aware
of how much they waste, and how much their waste weighs.
DonorsIf you would like to support sustainability related projects and other activities at the college, please consider making an online donation, or contact us.
