The Pearson College Oikos Charter: What is it?

For practical purposes, this charter could be referred to as a ‘sustainability policy' and is meant to be a collaborative process. It builds on Pearson College's record as a progressive educator on issues of international and cross-cultural significance and seeks to articulate common goals, provide guidance to decision-makers, and establish a point of reference for long term planning. This charter will be followed by an implementation plan, which will address and articulate timelines, targets and responsibilities.

What's next?

After receiving and incorporating feedback from the campus community and finalizing sections that needed completion, the Final Draft of the Pearson College Oikos Charter has been adopted in principle by the Pearson College board of trustees and is currently undergoing review for official approval and implementation.   Many thanks to Theo and Eileen Dowbrowski who kindly designed and integrated a more appealing layout to the Oikos Charter, as well as to all community members who provided feedback.

The Pearson College Oikos Overview: What is it?

This document is a draft meant to be reviewed and adapted as needed: it seeks to outline potential targets and timetables to be used by the Oikos Committee in overseeing & coordinating the implementation of, and compliance with, all aspects of the Oikos Charter. It was also written to be more user friendly and accessible than the Oikos Charter. Thank you to all campus community members who provided feedback on the first draft; please note that draft 3 is now available.
