This web site is meant to serve as a communication tool as well as an information sharing and gathering resource for the Lester B. Pearson College community. We also hope it will provide background and relevant information for anyone generally interested in, or willing to contribute to, the Pearson College Oikos Project.

The Oikos Charter: Adoption in Principle by the Pearson College Board of Trustees.

On November 3, 2008 the Pearson College Board of trustees passed a motion that adopts, in principle, the Pearson College Oikos Sustainability Charter. Next steps include incorporating trustee feedback and further board review of Charter. Check out Work in Progress to download the final version of the Pearson College Sustainability Oikos Charter.

The Pearson College greenhouse has been constructed. (Details and Photos available in the May 1, 2009 edition of the Link). In fact, seeds from the first planting have germinated and new shoots are growing.

The water capture system is near completion and the carbon tax proposal has been finalized; the implementation process is underway.

The Pearson College dining hall is now committed to serving two vegetarian meals per week and is working towards incorporating oikos recommendations for the PC dining services.
